LIGHT UP THE CITY SAGINAW 5K - 2018 Overview

Consumers Energy is proud to present the 1st Annual Light Up The City Saginaw 5K for 2018! Join several participants in running and/or walking USATF sanctioned 5K Saginaw Riverfront Trail/road course! A portion of proceeds from this race go to benefitting the Witness Assistance Program in Saginaw County. We will be racing on a Wednesday night with activities, music, food and fun continuing on Ojibway Island where the 2018 LUTC Community Celebration event is taking place!

This race is being organized as part of the 6th Annual Light Up The City Community Celebration Event with the purpose of encouraging community members and residents to work together helping to create safer neighborhoods and communities by walking the streets and asking neighbors to turn on their porch lights. Since 2013, we have had over 300 Consumers Energy employees volunteer their time, 1509 registered walkers participate and have distributed a total of 6,642 light bulbs throughout our Saginaw communities.

This initiative would not be possible without our partners such as the Michigan State Police, United Way of Saginaw County, Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority, the City of Saginaw, the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, the WorkWear Store, Papa John’s, Saginaw Public Schools our local law enforcement and emergency responders, WNEM TV5, our neighborhood associations, residents in the community and many others.

Course Description:

The run will start on Ojibway Island and go along the beautiful riverfront pathway. There will be a turnaround after passing MCVI with participants finishing back on Ojibway Island. The course is flat and scenic.

Packet Pickup and Late Registration:

Wednesday, August 22nd from 3:00-5:30 PM at the Andersen Enrichment Center

Online Registration closes at Midnight, Monday, August 20th, 2018. After that, ALL registrations will be completed on-site at late registration/packet pickup at the increased rate of $30.

NOTE: Active.com charges a nominal fee to participants when registering. We just don’t want you to be surprised when you go to register online!

T-Shirts

Event-specific t-shirts are guaranteed ONLY to those who register online before Noon on Friday, August 17th! These shirts are high quality and will be available in unisex or ladies cut. All registrants who register after that date/time will be provided a Consumers Energy Light Up the City t-shirt if event-specific shirts are unavailable on site.

Note: Please keep in mind that Ladies Cut shirts generally run smaller than standard unisex t-shirts as they are designed to be somewhat form fitting. Participants will receive the size and type shirts ordered. Exchanges will be unavailable.

Awards

Awards will be provided 3 deep to overall male and female winners of the 5K race. In addition, overall winners will receive free entry to next year’s Light Up The City Saginaw 5K Event in the category they win. 2ndPlace overall finishers will receive 50% off and 3rdPlace overall finishers will receive 25% off entry to the 2016 event.

NOTE: All participants will receive high quality finisher medals at the finish line upon completion of their event! While age group results WILL be provided, this year’s event will NOT have age group awards.

Results

Both actual and adjusted results from Miller Race Management will be displayed at the event and will be posted at TRITOFINISH.COM within 48 hours of race completion.

REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY

We completely understand that plans change and athletes will sometimes be unable to compete in an event they've signed up for. Unfortunately, refunds will not be provided for any event unless the event is cancelled for reasons within our control. Dangerous weather, natural disasters, and local emergencies are examples of reasons an event may be cancelled that are NOT within our control.

Should an athlete have an injury or other medical issue keeping them from competing in an event they've registered for, we would be happy to transfer their registration to a similar TriToFinish-owned event up to and including the same event the following season. A doctor's slip may be required as proof of injury or ailment. Failure to provide proof if requested will result in non-transfer of the event.

Transferring registrations to other athletes is NOT allowed.
